Motor Works History Motor Works, Inc., was founded in 1970 in San Diego,California, as a result of the owner's inability to find a proper machine shop to perform necessary automotive machine work. Because of Sergio’s prior machine shop knowledge, he decided to have his own, reliable machine shop along with a repair facility. With $300 and a toolbox, Motor Works began. In the beginning, the emphasis was on VWs and Porsches, but then it expanded to all types and brands of foreign car engines. One of Sergio’s goals, as the owner of Motor Works, was to prove that Mercedes Benz engines were rebuildable. At the time, very few mechanics believed this to be true. After many years, Motor Works was able to prove that these engines could be rebuilt. This breakthrough has made Motor Works one of the premier engine rebuilders in North America. We are able to rebuild a variety of engines, including Silicon Aluminum. Motor Works is able to rebuild engines on cars (foreign and domestic), motorcycles, industrial vehicles, marine craft, and tractors. Motor Works is able to machine and manufacture a variety of parts for any need. This has come about due to more than 100 combined years in the automotive machining business.
